Tidio automates the questions every shop shares. We take the ones only your catalog can answer

Tidio bundles live chat, ticketing, and the Lyro AI agent into a subscription a small shop can genuinely afford, and Lyro reads your product feed as well as your help content. ConnectAI is the alternative for stores where the deciding question is whether a product fits, because that answer is not in the help centre and usually is not in the catalog either until somebody puts it there.

Choose Tidio if

you want live chat, ticketing, and an AI agent on one affordable subscription, and your customers mostly ask about orders, policies, availability, and which of your products does roughly what.

Choose ConnectAI if

the question that decides the order is whether a specific product fits something the customer already owns, and getting it wrong sends the part back rather than starting a second conversation.

DimensionTidioConnectAI
Built forSmall and mid-sized businesses in any vertical. A dentist, a bakery, and a webshop all run the same product.E-commerce and service businesses where choosing the wrong item is expensive, and the pre-sale question is technical.
How the AI learns your businessLyro scrapes your support content and uses it as its knowledge base, and on Shopify or WooCommerce it also imports your products as a retrieval source for recommendations.Live catalog and order data, knowledge bases, and a written procedure for how the conversation should go: what to ask before recommending, what has to check out before anything is promised, when to hand to a person.
Catalog data preparationNot part of the product. Your catalog is imported as it stands.Part of the engagement. We extract the deciding attributes into structured fields, standardize naming across the catalog, and enrich products with the specifications the agent needs.
Fitment and compatibilityRecommends from what your product data already says. Matching a product against something the customer owns is not what it is built for, and no outside source is consulted. The source that actually settles it is connected. A Dutch licence plate is checked against the RDW national registry, then intersected with your own compatibility data.
WooCommerceOfficial plugin. Product cards in the inbox, real-time product sync, and retrieval over your imported products for recommendations.WordPress plugin for the widget, plus catalog and order data behind the agent. The difference is what happens to the product data before the agent reasons over it, not whether the store is connected.
ChannelsWeb chat, Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp in one inbox, with email through their ActiveCampaign and Brevo integrations.Web chat, WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, TikTok, email, and voice on one agent with one grounding.
VoiceNo phone or telephony channel in their integrations directory.A telephony agent on the same flow, the same catalog, and the same escalation rules.
What it can do in the conversationSmart Actions handle order updates and lead qualification, Lyro recommends products from your store, and anything outside its knowledge base becomes a ticket.Product grids, add-to-basket, order tracking, intake forms, and escalation with the full transcript.
Human in the loopNative. Tidio is a live chat product first, so a person is always one click from the conversation. We escalate into whatever inbox you already run, with the full transcript, and sensitive actions can require a sign-off before the agent acts.
Pricing modelTwo meters. Plans are tiered by billable conversations and include ten seats (Free 50 conversations, Starter $24.17/mo for 100, Growth from $49.17/mo for 250, Plus from $300/mo plus usage, Premium on request). Lyro is a separate add-on from $32.50/mo for 50 Lyro conversations; the free and Starter plans include 50 as a one-off rather than monthly. Premium quotes a guaranteed 50% resolution rate and can bill per resolution.Priced per conversation rather than per message or per seat, and quoted per engagement, so the catalog work, the flow build, and the integrations are included instead of billed as extras. A general tool that learned e-commerce, and where that stops

It would be convenient to write that Tidio answers FAQs while we sell products, and it is no longer true. Lyro scrapes your support content for its knowledge base, and on a connected Shopify or WooCommerce store it imports your products and retrieves against them, so it recommends from your real catalog rather than from prose. Tidio publish an average of 67% of inquiries automated. For a shop whose products are described adequately in their own descriptions, that is a good agent at a price no engagement-based vendor can meet, and the honest recommendation is to buy it.

The stop is not the feature list, it is what the product data can support. Retrieval over your catalog answers questions your catalog already contains. It cannot answer a question whose answer is a join: "does this fit a 2018 Golf estate with rails?" is not in the product description, not in the help centre, and not returned by any storefront field, because it lives in compatibility data that in most catalogs is not structured yet, or is spread across three supplier spreadsheets and a colleague's memory. A retrieval system asked that question will find the most similar-looking product and describe it confidently. That is the failure mode that costs a return rather than a follow-up message.

So the work we do first is not conversational at all. We get the deciding attributes out of free-text descriptions and into structured fields, standardize the naming that drifted as the catalog grew, and connect whatever outside source actually settles the question. Only then is there something worth reasoning over. It is slower to start than installing a plugin, and it is the reason the comparison ever goes our way.

WooCommerce is the fair test, because we are both on it

Both products install on a WooCommerce store through a WordPress plugin, and both feed the store's products to the agent, so this is the one place where the difference cannot hide behind an integration gap. Tidio imports your products and keeps them in sync automatically, then retrieves over them when a shopper asks. We connect the catalog and the order data too, but the agent is not pointed at the catalog as it arrived. It reasons over the version we prepared, which is the same catalog with the specifications that decide a purchase pulled into fields the agent can actually filter on.

The difference shows up on exactly one kind of question, and it is worth being precise about which. "Do you have this in black?" and "where is my order?" are answered equally well by both, and the cheaper product wins those on price alone. "Will this carrier hold my bike on a car with factory rails?" is answered well by one of them, and only after somebody has done the work of making the answer computable. If your WooCommerce catalog is mostly the first kind of question, this page has argued you into the wrong product and you should stop reading.

What the subscription buys, and what it does not

Tidio's pricing is genuinely accessible and we are not going to pretend otherwise. A free plan carries 50 conversations a month and ten seats, Starter is $24.17 a month, and the trial runs seven days without a card. What is easy to miss is that Lyro is metered separately: the free and Starter plans include 50 Lyro conversations as a one-off rather than monthly, and continuing use starts at $32.50 a month on top of the plan. Two meters is a reasonable model for a product that has to serve businesses which want live chat and no AI at all, and it means the real monthly cost is the plan plus the agent, not the headline.

We bill per conversation, quoted per engagement, because the catalog preparation and the integrations are the work rather than an extra. That is a larger commitment than a subscription and it is the wrong purchase for most businesses on the internet. It is the right one when a wrong-product return costs you the margin on the order plus handling in both directions, which is a number your finance team already knows.

What this looks like in production

Two live deployments carry this argument, and they are the only two we cite. PTC Auto sells over 250,000 automotive parts and supports customers in seven languages across web, social, and their business phone; fitment questions decide most of those conversations, and the agent cut support operations cost by 40%. Dakdragerwinkel.nl matches roof racks, boxes, and bike carriers to a specific car. The customer gives a Dutch licence plate, the agent verifies it against the RDW national registry, checks the shop's own compatibility data, and recommends only carriers that genuinely fit. It resolves 73% of engaged conversations without a human, handles order tracking in 28% of them, and puts products straight into the basket. Both numbers come from production data, not a pilot.

Where Tidio is the stronger choice

  • Price. A free plan with ten seats and 50 conversations a month, and paid tiers from $24.17, put a capable AI agent inside businesses no engagement-based vendor can serve.
  • One subscription covers live chat, ticketing, and the AI agent, instead of three products and the integration between them.
  • Self-serve from a seven-day trial with no card, and no data preparation required before the agent is useful.
  • Lyro is not a FAQ toy. It recommends products from a connected store, handles order updates through Smart Actions, and their published average is 67% of inquiries automated.
  • Seats are not the meter. Ten are included even on the free plan, so growing the team does not grow the bill.
  • Vertical-agnostic, which fits the large majority of businesses that have no catalog worth grounding an agent in.

ConnectAI is the better fit for

  • Stores whose pre-sale questions are technical enough that a retrieval-based bot guesses
  • Retailers whose specifications arrive inconsistently from several suppliers and never reached a structured field
  • Catalogs where the purchase depends on compatibility with something the customer already owns
  • Teams who need the agent on the phone and on social, not only in a website widget

Tidio vs ConnectAI: common questions

Lyro recommends products from my store already. What is actually different?

What the agent has to reason over, not whether it can recommend. Lyro retrieves over the products as they exist in your store, which answers any question your product data already contains. We restructure that data first so the attributes a customer decides on are reliably present and filterable, and we connect outside sources such as a national vehicle registry when those are what settle the question. If your catalog already holds your fitment answers in usable fields, that difference may not be worth paying for.

How does the cost compare?

Tidio is cheaper on the subscription line and will stay cheaper. Their plans are metered by billable conversations with ten seats included, and Lyro is a separate add-on from $32.50 a month, so the real figure is the plan plus the agent. We quote per engagement because the catalog work and the integrations are included rather than billed as extras. The comparison only favours us where wrong-product returns are a real line in your numbers.

Can we keep Tidio for live chat and use ConnectAI for product questions?

Yes, and it is a normal arrangement. The agent escalates with the full transcript into whatever inbox your team already works in, so Tidio stays the place humans talk to customers. Whether running both is worth it depends on how much of your volume is genuinely product-choice conversation rather than order status and policy.

Does ConnectAI work with WooCommerce?

Yes. The widget installs as a WordPress plugin and the agent connects to your WooCommerce catalog and order data, so it answers from live stock, product specifications, and order state. See the WooCommerce integration for what that covers.

We need a phone agent as well. Does Tidio do that?

Their integrations directory lists no phone or telephony channel, so voice is not part of what a Tidio subscription covers today. We run a telephony agent on the same conversation design and the same catalog grounding as the chat agent, which matters mainly when the same question arrives by both routes and the two answers have to agree.

Judge it on your own catalog, not on this table

We build the agent against your real product data, so you can put your own hardest questions to it, the ones a comparison page can never settle.
